About No Southern Accent

No Southern Accent was formed in 2001 by Cara Christeson and Laura Silva. The group is entirely student-run and is an official student organization of the University of Florida.

NSA performs annually at university events such as Gator Growl’s Talent Night, Dance Marathon and Relay for Life. The group also travels to North Carolina every fall to attend SoJam, a collegiate and professional a cappella competition and convention in which the group is able to meet other a cappella nerds and learn from the cream of the crop. NSA, being a competitive group, also competes in ICCA, the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella.

The group is composed entirely of students who simply love to sing. Many members have describe their desire to be more than something they want to do — it’s more like something they need. This group is about passion and dedication, and No Southern Accent portrays its love for music at every performance it delivers.
